Looking ahead
Improving the lives of people in the South West.
Our goal remains to improve the lives of people in the South West, by scaling adoption of health innovation adapted to its rural and coastal context. Driving impact through improved health outcomes, improved health and care services and improved economic outcomes.
We will focus on supporting partners to tackle the immediate NHS operational priorities, as well as supporting the three major shifts required to develop a health and care system fit for the future.
Immediate NHS priorities – We will support immediate NHS priorities by accelerating the adoption of innovative treatments, digital health solutions, and AI-driven tools to improve operational pressures on areas such as patient flow and hospital admissions.
Hospital to community – Supporting the evaluation and implementation of digitally enabled services. This will be concentrated for those with multiple long-term conditions and to prevent admissions, through screening, monitoring and rehabilitating users out of hospital settings.
Sickness to prevention – We will increase the use of data and AI enabled risk stratification approaches to population health management and translate research into practice and increase the uptake of novel therapies starting in areas of long-term conditions and Mental Health, Learning Disabilities & Neurodiversity.
Analogue to digital – We will support clinical service delivery through digital approaches to create significant productivity gains across health and care.
We take a mission-led approach, closely aligned to these focus areas and local and regional needs. Our missions are: Long Term Conditions and Frailty, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Neurodiversity, Urgent Care, Cancer and Maternity, Neonatal and Women’s Health.
In combination, these impact areas will contribute towards economic growth by supporting and developing health tech and life sciences start-ups to grow. Improving NHS efficiency, and health and care for users will see more people return to work, creating additional economic impact.
